About NuEcoSystems

We design custom steel building kits. We work with you on the building design, have it engineered for your property, and deliver a cold-formed galvanized steel kit for you or your builder to put up.

Barndominiums are our main focus, along with cabins, ADUs, garages, shops, and storage buildings.

What we do

Every project starts from your property and what you want to build. We handle three parts of it.

Building design

Our design team works with you on the size, roof style, height, and the approximate locations and sizes of your doors and windows.

Property-specific engineering

Engineered plans for the building and the foundation are prepared for your site, using requirements such as snow load, wind speed, and frost depth from your local planning department.

The steel building kit

Once your design is engineered and your permit is approved, we deliver the kit to your site.

What the kit includes

  • Fire resistant, mold resistant, termite resistant steel framed eco structure kit
  • Engineered plans for both the building and the foundation
  • Door and window frames sized for your requirements
  • Structural bolts, braces, painted screws, and sealants for assembly
  • Wall framing, roof framing, and exterior steel for the walls and roof

The actual windows and doors are not included in a standard kit. They may be provided when NuEco supplies turnkey building services in Texas.

What your builder handles

We deliver the kit. The foundation, construction on your site, and interior finishing are done by you or your local builder and trades.

That usually means your concrete contractor, electrician, plumber, HVAC installer, and insulation contractor, working from the engineered plans.

How we work with you

You work with a small, accessible team. Ask questions at your own pace. There is no pressure to commit before you have what your planning department needs.

  1. Personal design support

A designer works with you on the initial design and sends a price quote, usually within about 24 hours.

  2. Requirement review

We start from your local requirements: roof or ground snow load, frost depth, and the wind speed rating for your location.

  3. Customization

You choose the floor plan, size, color, and openings. Design options depend on engineering and your local code.

  4. Engineering

The engineering team produces a stamped and signed set of plans for the kit and the foundation.

  5. Delivery

After your permit is approved and the final order is placed, your kit goes into production and is shipped to your site.

Why cold-formed steel

Our kits use cold-formed galvanized steel framing. Here is what that means for your building.

Galvanized framing

  • Galvanized Z-purlins
  • Structural C channel
  • DIY friendly: assembled with structural bolts, braces, and screws

Design flexibility

  • Customized to meet your needs
  • Floor plan, size, color, and openings chosen for your project
  • Architectural plan sets available for residential projects

Engineered for your site

  • Engineered for the wind speed rating required at your location
  • Engineered for the snow loads your planning department requires
  • California projects are subject to case-by-case engineering review.

No wood framing problems

  • Galvanized steel framing resists rot, termites, and mold damage
  • Steel framing does not warp, split, or attract termites like wood
  • Less framing upkeep over the life of the building

See the process

Ordering a kit follows six steps, from your first call with the planning department to delivery.

  1. Check with your local planning department about building on your property and its snow, frost, and wind requirements.
  2. Request a free project consult to create the initial design and get a quote.
  3. Order preliminary or architectural plans, depending on whether the building is residential.
  4. Order engineered plans for the kit and the foundation.
  5. Submit your plans for permit approval.
  6. Order your kit once your permit is approved.
